2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer
When you need a vehicle that can keep up with all your adventures, check out the Chevrolet Trailblazer. This capable SUV shows off eye-catching style elements, along with premium interior features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
After a long hiatus, Chevrolet brought the Trailblazer back into its lineup in 2021. This compact SUV comes in four trim levels, which are LS, LT, Activ, and RS. Standard equipment on the base model includes a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, black front and rear lower fascias, body-color accents, and power-adjustable side mirrors. The LT tacks on heating functionality for the side mirrors, roof rails, LED fog lights and tinted rear windows. Keyless entry and ignition also come standard on this trim.
With the Activ trim, you get rugged features like a tow hitch receiver, unique styling elements, underbody skid plates, upgraded tires and suspension tunings, and a bold two-tone roof. At the top of the list, the RS shares much of its equipment with the Activ trim, although it has its own set of 18-inch wheels. In addition, a few options are available in packages, such as a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, and LED headlights.
Engine (Power)
The base engine is a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder unit rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. It works with a continuously variable transmission that powers the front wheels. If you want to upgrade your Trailblazer to include Chevrolet's all-wheel-drive system, it will also include a more powerful engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This 1.3-liter turbocharged unit produces 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
This small SUV performs well in city driving, delivering quick acceleration and precise handling. With the upgraded engine, it went from zero to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds in speed testing, which aligns with competitors in its segment. The CVT is more efficient, but the nine-speed automatic transmission that pairs with the more powerful engine offers a more responsive driving experience. If you plan to explore rugged terrain, the Activ trim will be your best bet.
Interior
Although this model fits into the small SUV segment, the cabin is quite spacious and accommodates adults in both rows. Within the base model, you'll find cloth upholstery, a six-speaker sound system connected to a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The front passenger seat also folds flat to increase the storage capacity. With the LT, upgrades include remote ignition, a power driver's seat, and heated front seats.
Opt for the Activ, and your SUV will include a heated steering wheel, simulated leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The RS adds red interior accents, while options include rear-seat USB ports, a larger 8-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, and a premium sound system.
Safety Features
No matter which trim level you choose, your vehicle will include anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, a rearview camera, and airbags throughout both rows of seating. Additional standard features include automatic high beams, forward-collision mitigation, and lane-keeping assist. In addition, Chevy offers the Driver Confidence package on the upper three trims, which bundles rear parking sensors with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control is available on the top two trim levels.
