Foundation Park

If you want to spend an afternoon outdoors, load the family in your roomy Mahogany Red Metallic Chevy Trailblazer and head over to Foundation Park. In the Trailblazer, you have plenty of room to spread out with space for all your gear. Foundation Park is the city’s largest park, and there’s plenty to do there. Spanning over 78 acres, including 22 acres of woodlands, Foundation Park is great for an afternoon of fun, especially if you like sports.

The park has soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and a basketball court. Home of the Pataskala youth soccer program, the park is a good location for local club teams of all kinds. If you’re a walker, the park has walking trails, including a 1-mile woodland trail and a 1.4-mile perimeter trail. There are also two playgrounds for the kids and a fishing pond. In Columbus, there is a unique 13-acre landscaped patch within the 149-acre Whetstone Park covered with over 12,000 different rose bushes in the Formal and Heritage Gardens. The astonishing Park of Roses, one of the largest in the United States, was created way back in 1951 by the Central Ohio Rose Society and the Columbus Rose Club and displays heritage roses from before 1867, before the modern era of cultivation began.

The Heritage Garden within the Park of Roses sparked an interest in old roses among avid rose gardeners, making heritage roses extremely popular. On a stroll through this magnificent garden, you will also see The Perennial Garden with 100 varieties of bulbs, perennials, shrubs, and trees. The Herb Garden is filled with plants used for food and medicines, fragrance, and pollinator qualities.
