Here are a few of the best picnic spots you’ll find in the peaceful community of Pataskala.
Pataskala Municipal Park
This excellent 15-acre local community park has thick leafy woods with trails to explore and find a suitable shaded picnic spot. There’s a picturesque trickling stream to settle beside, surrounded by the sounds of birdsong and nature. Alternatively, there are several well-kept picnic tables under pavilion shading and also plenty of wide-open green spaces for sitting on the grass.
If your family’s in an active mood, there are fields for soccer, basketball, and baseball, a sand volleyball court, a swimming pool, and a playground that’s perfect for younger children. You can find the park at the southern end of South Township Road.
Thomas J. Evans Foundation Park
This huge 78-acre park on the eastern side of town has an abundance of places to enjoy a great picnic, with three shelters covering picnic tables, one of which is well-equipped with grills for barbecues. It’s a dog-friendly park with plenty of trails for walking, including pathways that wind through 22 acres of beautiful woodland.
The park is a very popular place for all manner of sports. There’s also a catch-and-release fishing pond to while away a few hours before you eat. The park is located at 10255 McIntosh Road.
Freedom Park
If you’re on the western side of town, visit this peaceful park at 5261 Taylor Road Southwest. It’s a cozy, quiet park with a well-maintained pavilion shelter with picnic tables. There are some great swings and slides for kids in the playground. Many locals like this park because it’s rarely crowded and offers a perfectly peaceful place to relax.
There’s a great parking lot connected to the park, which is wheelchair-accessible. City of Pataskala Liberty Park
This small but characterful park has plenty of lush green foliage surrounding a pretty pond full of bass, catfish, sunfish, bluegill, and carp for catch-and-release fishing. The pond is a lovely place to rest beside and enjoy a picnic. You can also follow a great walking path to find a few picnic tables. You’ll find this charming little park at Roscommon Drive, also on the western side of town.
